Yes. I had surgery today. or a "small procedure". I am horrible at those scientific names but it was basically like a "dnc". I had 1.5 cm of uterine wall scraped off as well as a polyp (non-cancerous growth) removed - but they have to biopsy it to make sure.
I arrived at 1230 (noonish) at the surgical center. I got taken in right away by my nurse, Kerri. I was given a gown and a hair cover (the name escapes me right now). I put all my belongings into a plastic baggie, put my hospital gown on then laid down. Now this is a "recovery" room the same room you come in after the procedure to "recover". I can hear everything the nurses are saying to the other patients and what they are saying at the desk but it is as if they don't realize I can hear everything. I had the anestisialogist (also can't spell that one) come in and introduce himself. Looked like everything was going to go smoothly until another nurse tells my nurse that the machine they need for my "dnc" just broke on the patient prior. I could hear everything they were saying and then about 1 hour later an older nurse came in the room and fixed it herself. It was like magic because at that point I was seriously thinking maybe it's a sign that I shouldn't get this done but once it was working I took it as a good sign. Finally another 20 mins later the doctor (my gynocologist) arrived. They finally hooked me up to an I.V. and before I knew it I was being wisked away just like on the T.V. shows. I rolled into the surgery room. I saw gynormous lights above me. I also saw like 5 other people in the room who were probably all going to see my va jay jay. Thank God I was going to be asleep for that. Then I scooted over to the surgical bed from the bed they rolled me in on. Then everyone held me down when the anestiologist put the mask over my face and told me it was oxygen. I knew better. Probably 4-5 blinks later and I was out. At least that's all I remember. Next thing I remember is waking up in recovery super dizzy and groggy and thirsty. The male nurse was nice enough to give me apple juice. I also had this incredible urge to pee. I have no idea what time it was then. But I got to use the rest room and then change and then my hubby got to take me home.
It just majorily feels like cramps. really bad cramps. But I always get bad cramps so I'm use to that part. And I've pretty much slept all day so I'm WIDE AWAKE! lol. But now it's a waiting game. one month of no sex or tampons. I have to follow up with the doctor in about 2 weeks. there's very little discharge, I thought there'd be more. but I guess not. I am also just taking OTC midol for the pain. So that's a good thing.
Thank you Lord for taking care of me. I just pray the biopsy comes back as benign.
Love and kisses to all my pcos girls out there!
